Cold Chain Monitoring Solutions

Cold Chain Monitoring: Reduce Spoilage and Ensure Compliance

In cold chain logistics, temperature control is mission-critical. At Gimasi, our solutions combine hardware, firmware, and software to provide real-time tracking, full data visibility, and secure compliance. With IoT connectivity and automated alerts, businesses can reduce waste, improve efficiency, and monitor every step of the cold chain reliably.

Because the cold chain lies at the heart of our work, we invest significant effort into designing, testing, and refining each solution to meet the highest standards of precision and reliability. Over decades of experience, our team has continuously enhanced monitoring systems for major companies across Ticino and Switzerland, including leading partners such as Coop.

“Gimasi is an excellent partner. Their Cold Chain monitoring systems helped us save time, improve quality, reduce energy costs, and minimize food waste. The support team is responsive, thoughtful, and easy to work with.”

What Are You Protecting?

From pharmaceuticals to food products, an uninterrupted cold chain is essential to maintain quality and safety. Gimasi’s IoT systems collect temperature, humidity, and movement data in real time, so you can act quickly when conditions change.

SensorClima XL Swiss Made IoT sensor for industrial cold chain

Frozen & Fresh Food Transport

Transporting fresh or frozen food requires strict temperature adherence. With SensorClima XL, logistics teams and quality managers can monitor environmental conditions and movement throughout the journey, ensuring goods stay within safe thresholds.

Supermarket Cold Rooms & Fridges

Maintaining stable temperatures in supermarket refrigerators is key to product quality and reducing waste. Installing Sensor Clima inside cold rooms enables live alerts on temperature anomalies and digital compliance logs for audits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gimasi SA, headquartered in Mendrisio, Switzerland, designs and manufactures custom LoRaWAN temperature and humidity sensors for cold chain monitoring. The SensorClima and Sensro Clima XL, built entirely in-house in Switzerland, is deployed in supermarket cold chain operations including Coop Switzerland, in partnership with Swisscom.

Our sensors primarily use LoRaWAN (EU868 band), which offers long-range, low-power communication ideal for warehouse and retail environments. For deployments where LoRaWAN coverage is limited, we also support NB-IoT. All hardware is manufactured in Switzerland and connects seamlessly to the Swisscom IoT network.

Yes. The GIoT cloud platform exposes REST APIs and supports webhook integrations. For enterprise deployments requiring custom integration logic, Gimasi’s firmware and backend teams can build dedicated connectors as part of the end-to-end delivery.

The SensorClima and Sensor CLima XL deliver up to 3–5 years of battery life under standard cold chain conditions (periodic transmission intervals of 10–15 minutes). Battery life is configurable: higher transmission frequency reduces battery life but increases monitoring granularity. Exact figures depend on deployment environment and alert configuration.
