From asset location
to operational visibility

Integrating the Low Cost Tracker with the GIoT Cloud Platform brings device and location data into one centralized environment. From there, tenants can monitor connected assets, review their status, configure devices, create geofences, and define alerts or rules based on operational needs. In addition, this centralized setup makes asset information easier to manage and interpret. As a result, location data becomes part of the business workflow rather than remaining isolated at device level.

Applications

The Low Cost Tracker IoT combines smart connectivity, cloud integration, and rugged reliability to help ensure that every mobile asset is accounted for. Whether used across industrial sites, logistics fleets, or telecom infrastructure, it provides real-time visibility, operational control, and actionable insights. At the same time, all relevant data is brought together through the GIoT Cloud Platform, making asset monitoring easier to manage and integrate into daily operations.

Warehouse and inventory management with Low Cost Tracker

Warehouse & Inventory Management

Locate assets across warehouses and operational sites. In particular, Wi-Fi positioning helps identify where equipment, containers or goods are located, both indoors and outdoors.

Industrial equipment tracking with Low Cost Tracker

Industrial Equipment

Monitor the location and condition of mobile equipment. At the same time, motion, free-fall, geofence, temperature and tamper events provide greater visibility over valuable assets.

Logistics and transport tracking with Low Cost Tracker

Logistic & Transport

Follow assets as they move between warehouses or customer sites. Meanwhile, cellular connectivity supports data transmission in transit, while geofences and alerts help identify arrivals, departures or unexpected movements.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Low Cost Tracker (LCT) is a battery-powered IoT tracking solution for monitoring business assets across warehouses, buildings, sites and transport environments. The solution combines the tracker, embedded cellular connectivity, a cloud-based dashboard and API access.

Both devices are trackers, both support Wi-Fi and cell-based positioning, but LCT Advanced also includes GPS positioning (as fallback) and a mounting-contact feature for tamper detection. Advanced is therefore suited to applications requiring broader positioning options and additional device monitoring.

Both trackers can use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi scanning and cellular positioning. If Wi-Fi information is unavailable, Essential can fall back to LTE-M or 2G positioning, while Advanced first uses GPS before falling back to cellular positioning.

No. Wi-Fi is used to collect information for positioning, while device data is transmitted through the tracker’s embedded NB-IoT, LTE-M or 2G cellular connectivity. This allows deployment without relying on the customer’s local network for data transmission

Not in the traditional continuous-GPS sense. The trackers send data according to configurable reporting intervals and can also transmit based on events such as motion start or stop. GPS is available on LCT Advanced as one of its positioning methods rather than as continuous always-on tracking.

LCT devices can monitor movement, standstill, free-fall and temperature, while rules and geofences can trigger relevant alarms. LCT Advanced additionally supports mounting-contact monitoring, allowing the platform to detect when the tracker is removed from its installed position

Devices are delivered already registered in the GIoT cloud platform and can be configured remotely. Users can manage reporting intervals, sensors, rules and device data through the dashboard, while role-based access and a REST API support integration into existing workflows and systems. Both variants are IP68 rated, operate from −20 °C to +60 °C, and Telekom specifies a battery operating period of up to five years under defined usage conditions.

GIoT is the cloud platform used to manage LCT devices, data and events from one central interface. Authorised users can view location and device status, configure rules and geofences, monitor alarms and battery information, and manage access by tenant and user role. The platform can also support integration with external systems via API.
