The Service Button

The Service Button IoT

Smart IoT Trigger for Industrial & Retail Processes

The Service Button IoT solution is a simple yet powerful device that enables instant, real‑time activation of business processes with a single press. As a result, it helps organizations streamline workflows, reduce manual steps, and improve operational efficiency. Designed to reduce manual steps, streamline workflows, and cut costs, it combines reliable connectivity with intuitive usability. Integrated with LTE‑M and NB‑IoT connectivity, it ensure reliable communication across retail, logistics, warehouse, industrial, and facility environments.

In fact, IoT Service Button is suitable for a wide range of environments: from retail, logistics, and warehouses to industrial production, facility management, and urban operations.

How It Works

At its core, the Service Button enables users to trigger predefined events by simply pressing the button. Once activated, it sends an event notification to the cloud, where automated processes are executed. The button can trigger:

  • real‑time notifications (email or alerts to mobile/desktop)

  • task or ticket creation in backend systems

  • automated service or assistance protocols

In addiction, thanks to LTE‑M and NB‑IoT connectivity, it works independently of Wi‑Fi or power infrastructure, enabling reliable communication in busy industrial halls or remote warehouse zones.

Key Features

  • Plug‑and‑Play Installation: Fast and easy setup without onsite infrastructure.

  • Dual Connectivity: Uses LTE‑M and NB‑IoT for robust, wide‑area communication.

  • Low Power Consumption: Battery‑operated with long life and replaceable cells.

  • Built‑in Feedback Display: Shows real‑time confirmation of button presses and system responses.

  • Integrated Sensors: Includes temperature and Hall effect sensors, with optional NFC and accelerometer modules.

Deutsche Telekom Origin & Collaborative Development

One button for 1001 uses

The Gimasi Service Button production originates from the goal of responding to Deutsche Telekom’s clients in the retail sector. Specifically, Deutsche Telekom needed a trusted partner who could design a digital technology capable of optimizing retail processes, improving customer service, and reducing costs. As a result, companies could replace manual steps and accelerate service tasks without requiring custom development.

THE CHALLENGE

Project Criticals

The company was facing a crisis in the retail sector: transport costs were too high, logistic sectors were changing for a greener approach…
The requestes were clear:
they needed a device able to optimize logistic processes, cut costs and maximize customer’s experience.

WHAT WE DID

Service Button Developing

We started the development phase with the goal of tailoring a device that fully met our client’s requirements.

Software development: We envisioned an intelligent button designed to streamline multiple processes, reducing downtime. With a simple press, the IoT Service Button sends a message to the Cloud Platform, which responds to the button to execute the requested action.

The Service Button is equipped with a Temperature and Hall Sensor, and optionally can include NFC reader functionality. It uses LTE-M and NB-IoT connectivity for reliable performance.

THE RESULTS

Service Button Functionality

The Service Button is desgined to allow users to manually trigger a specific event directly from their work-station. Once acrivated, thanks to the LTE-M and NB-IoT connectivity, it sends an event to the Platform. This event can trigger automated responses as:

  • real time notifications (email, alerts…)
  • assistance protocol activation
  • task or ticket creation
