IoT Connectivity of the LCT
The Low-Cost Tracker (LCT) supports multiple communication technologies for IoT applications, ensuring reliable and efficient data transmission.
1. Cellular Connectivity (SIM-based IoT Communication)
- The ICCD-linked SIM card enables connectivity via 2G, 3G, 4G, or NB-IoT (Narrowband IoT), depending on network availability.
- Ideal for wide-area tracking, ensuring the device can send data even in remote locations.
2. LoRa (Long Range) Communication
- The LCT can communicate via LoRaWAN, a low-power, long-range network protocol.
- Suited for low-data applications, reducing power consumption while maintaining connectivity over long distances.
- Works well in smart city, industrial, and logistics applications.
3. WiFi Scanning (ESP-based Localization)
- The device can scan nearby WiFi networks to estimate its location when GPS is unavailable.
- Helps in indoor positioning where cellular and GPS signals might be weak.
4. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Communication
- Short-range communication for pairing with external sensors or mobile applications.
- Enables data exchange with smartphones, beacons, or IoT gateways.
